[Another day dawns and it's normal enough for the village. People laughing, groaning as they wake, brushing their teeth, taking a shower, or sleeping in. Things that are normal enough for anyone that isn't nocturnal.

What might not be normal is the fact that there is, your bed, hammock, or wherever it is that you sleep, an elf.

A tanned, tattooed sleeping elf, all but cuddled up next to whoever's still in bed with him, or curled around a pillow if they've stepped out for the aforementioned shower. The exhausted thing is out cold, wings tucked up against his spine, fingers of one hand curled as though cupping the face of a lover. Or around the hilt of an absent knife. Care to wake him from his deep slumber? Perhaps with a kiss? Or a fist. Whichever comes first.

Later in the day a voice rich with laughter crackles across the network]

-nd it records voice as well? Marvelous! Ah, the wonders of this world shall never cease. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zevran, Zev to my friends, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a prime hunting ground. I've recently found my blades and find myself in need of an...exhausting diversion.

Is that your name? Mr. A Very Sore Elf? Or...are you jesting with me?

[She doesn't advance, but her open palmed fighting stance does not drop]

My name is Zevran. I am a very sore elf- you were crushing me, and then you kicked me!

[He's going to stay here and pout a bit for that.]

You did climb into my bed uninvited. I have a tendency to squeeze things in my sleep. Like elves with no business being there.

I did not climb in, I woke there! I swear by what very little I hold dear I did not invade your bed on purpose.

You...just woke up in my bed. Curious...

[Then something hits her. New Feathers can wake up in weird places. And his pants fit the bill]

Do you know my name? And do you know where you are?

[His pants also fit him quite nicely, if Saori bothers to look.]

I do not know your name, nor do I know where I am, but...[He grins.] I would be more than happy to learn both. Especially what I might call such a formidable vision of loveliness.

[She doesn't, but at his quips thunder actually rumbles outside]

I am Saori. And you are in Luceti. In my home.

[She picks up his journal, discarded when he fell off the bed and tosses it to him, a sudden gust of wind opening it to the guide]

[In the meantime, her loose robe shifts, becoming a flowing white dress]

[Either a very powerful mage, or something entirely unlike anyone he's met before. He's not entirely certain where to go with it until her clothing simply. Shifts, from one thing to another. A fade spirit given flesh without becoming an abomination? He does not know enough of such things to say, but he knowswell enough when to drop the act.

Allow me to apologize for the unwelcome intrusion, Saori.

[She walks out briskly]

[By the time he is finished looking through the first few pages of the guide, he will most certainly need that tea. The contents of this tome are unsettling at best- due entirely to the manner in which the information is presented rather than what he learns. Voices, music, moving images- it's all so very strange and smacks of magic that he has no experience with handling. Causing a bandit to explode with a spell is one thing- moving images on what appears to be paper is something else entirely. ]

[Saori returns a few moments later carrying a tray with two cups of steaming green tea. With a tight smile she sets it down and takes a seat, watching Zev as he reads]

Were it not for this...[He taps the book with his finger, still reading.] I would assume this place a Fade dream, nothing more.

Fade dream?

[She picks up a cup of tea and sips, watching his expression]

The Fade is where one goes to dream- or to die. It is a place between worlds, or a world all it's own. Mages and scholars know far more of it than I, I'm sad to day.

Strange. It sounds like Kamigawa, the river of the gods.

[She shrugs]

Trapped in a strange world with wings, a mark of not my own making on my neck, and this very strange book. People are taken, forced to fight, offered positions on missions, or experimented upon at irregular intervals.

[He runs a hand through his hair, staring down at the book.]

There is no escape- and there is no negotiating with our minders. I think I have the gist of it, yes.

That sounds right.

[She smiles tightly]

Does that make you sad?

Sad? [A bit of honesty for this mage. This very powerful mage.] No. Frustrated? Yes. I had hoped to be free of this situation rather than pulled into another one much like it.

[He lifts a shoulder and flips through the next set of pages.]

[She understand the concept, not the meaning]

A crow? Is that...some sort of association? You do not look like a bird.

[Zev snorts a soft laugh and shakes his head at that, flipping the book closed.]

It is a guild of assassins.

Oh. Well then. You...hopefully are not going to try and kill me to keep me quiet. I don't think that would go very well for you.

[She knows thats something assassins do...]
